2020 is your year!!

First off, I am so proud of you for getting through the holidays.  No easy feat for sure but you did it!

As we are about to approach a new decade I challenge you to know what you want to feel more of and what things you would never want experience again.  Do you have self care set up in your schedule?  Vacation time?

It may feel daunting that you are entering another year of being in the season of infertility but try to flip your mindset if you can.  I want you take stock in the treatments you did have this year and audit what worked and what didn’t.  Like literally take out a pen and paper and lay it all out and see if you can find any patterns in what you see.  Are you due to re-test any of your past bloodwork?  Is there anything missing that you need to do?  Testing?  Is there anything you think you need to change?  Oftentimes things can get overlooked or un-noticed in the hectic/frenetic setting of your RE’s office.  Get this list together and if you find anything significant share it with your doctor.

Albert Einstein has a very famous quote:

“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results”

I encourage you to always take charge of your own infertility in whatever ways you can.  There is a lack of items you have no control over but taking charge of what you can change can breathe new life into a journey that perhaps is taking longer that you had hoped.  Your RE may not welcome your thoughts but stick to your guns if you feel you wish to explore something you find.

Here is an example of exactly what I’m talking about.  We had had several miscarriages and IVF failures and my thyroid was slowly rising but considered “in range” according to the lab standards.  When I sought out the opinion of a dr. that specialized in these types of issues I was immediately put on thyroid meds and shortly after had success.  Having your TSH as close to 1 as possible is preferred.  Now I am sure there were other factors that effected our result but I know normalizing my thyroid was one of them.

If you don’t have the records from your doctors they are very easy to get off of the portals many offices now use.  Don’t you love modern technology?  When you are doing your review do not get too caught up in things that are not big impact items.  You want to look for patterns that keep occurring especially if you have been at treatments for a long time like I was.

Now that we are headed into a new year and new 20’s let’s look at this as a new beginning and year of renewed hope.

This is your year my friend and I for one am so excited for you.  Please keep me updated on your progress and if you haven’t joined my FREE support group please do so I can help support you and cheer your on!
